Broken Pieces

The Time is Now

Copyright 2006.

This song was written as part of an Advent Story project I've been working on.

It's from the perspective of the wife of the innkeeper who turned away Mary, Joseph, and Jesus. She is chiding her husband that we should not turn these strangers away and send them into the dark.

However, the song has much more meaning for us as Christians, because it's a call to be a light others are seeking.

Shouldn't there be 'room enough' in our hearts and lives for these seekers of the truth?

Lyrics

Verse 1:
These are dark times
These are hard times
People need us
Can we truly turn our backs
And walk away?
God is Calling.
Are you stalling?
People want the hope we have,
Do we leave them in the cold
And shut the door?

Chorus:
There's a moment now to share
There's a Time to show we care.
The time is Now.
The time is Now.
There are people in the night
We must invite them to the light
The time is Now.
The time is Now.
The time is Now.

Verse 2:
These are dark times (There are people everywhere)
These are hard times (There's so much we have to share)
People need us ((We can help them)
Do we put them in the stable of our hearts,
In the Dark?
God is Calling. (There is room enough for you!)
Are you stalling? (Yes, this hope in me is True!)
Will we share the light we have
With these strangers in our path,
Or shut the door?

Chorus:
